So...onto the build....
We've had issues with the pool builder...who sent their tiler last week to lay the sandstone coping and pool surrounds, without having the pool rendered first! Quite a large stuff up which has set back the pool build, add those few days of rain and we're behind by a week or two.
With regard to the house, our PCI date is looming (set for next Monday, 28th March) and there is still a bit to be done.
* The plumber needs to install the showerhead and shower taps in the main bathroom as well as connect us up to the stormwater and sewer.
* Gyprockers to come back and replace ceiling in the home theatre (after all the re-wiring that has been done).
* Gap in slab under stairs to be filled.
* Gap in floor in home theatre to be filled.
* Painters to finish off final coats of feature paint.
* Tiler to lay feature tiles for fireplace.
*Air-con unit to be installed in the roof.
* Concrete driveway to be poured.
* Carpet to be laid.
There are other little bits and pieces that require attention but these will be picked up in the PCI.
The biggest problem is the feature tiles for the fireplace. We chose the gorgeous 80.4 tiles from Di Lorenzro back in December. Di Lorenzo assured us the tile was in stock and would be reserved for us.
Fast foward to now and we've been told the tiles are on the boat from Italy and won't be arriving until early April. This will put back our handover date by roughly a week and we are far from happy about it.
The other issue is the driveway which should've been poured late last week, however due to the rain it's been delayed. Thankfully, we've had a couple of sunny days and our SS said if that keeps up, it may get poured on Friday....just in time for PCI! If the driveway isn't done, then PCI will be pushed back. Fingerscrossed for more sunshine!
A few pics....

Stairs painted and handrails stained
Front door tri-lock handles and Ronan's little hand :)
Pool cleaned out and waiting to be rendered
Exterior painting complete....
Now awaiting a driveway...
Hold up's right at the end must be so frustrating! Hope weather stays good for you (and me!) over the next week or so! We are building in the shire too so we cope the same weather!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachael,
ReplyDeleteVery sorry about the sad loss to your family. I am sure she was a special lady. I lost my Mum over 5 years ago and Dad over 22 years ago. It's a gap nothing can fill, nor should it. Am sure you and the kids have been a great comfort to Simon.
The house and pool are looking terrific. I hope they finish as much as poss. in time for Monday's PCI. Do let us all know how it goes. We'll be posting an update soon. :)
Thanks Craig for those kind words. I'm sorry to hear you've lost both your parents, that would've been very tough. I'm sure you find some comfort in knowing she joined your Dad and both are now watching over you, Sandrine and your family xx
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to a build update from you guys soon!
newbuild - oooh very exciting! Where are you in the shire? We're in Gymea. I'll have to do a driveby when your build really gets underway!
