At this point, I will mention that we have a great SS but his communication and follow up is somewhat lacking. At our last onsite meet a few months back, he raised the issue of needing to 'box in' two sections on either side of the fireplace due to pipes being in the way. We requested for those two boxed sections to have a downlight in each to make it look like a feature. D said he would speak to the sparky. Fast forward to now, gyprock has been done and no sign of provisions for those two downlights. We asked him about it today and it appears he's forgotten, it's too late to put them in now. I admit, it's not a major problem but there have been a few other minor issues that we've raised and he's not followed up. I hate to nag (Simon will tell you otherwise...lol) but now I feel we really need to be on top of him to make sure he does follow through.
He clarified the other minor queries we had, which was good. I raised the issue of a damaged window track in the leisure room. He will arrange for it to be serviced but because the damage is quite bad, it will most likely need replacing. Mental note....follow him up on this one :)
We'll be arranging for a glazier to come and replace the clear glass panels on either side of the front door with frosted glass for privacy. It was something we completely missed in the planning stages. We don't want door knockers being able look straight through to our living room. I'd feel all exposed! :)
Now onto the exciting part, D gave us a rundown on what's to come in the next two weeks:
As you can see from the below pics, the staircase was built on Friday. Now that the scaffolding from the void has gone, it has really opened up the entrance and looks lovely. How nice to be able to walk up stairs now rather than climb a ladder! A sign that it's progressing from building site to a proper house.
The gas was connected yesterday, the front and internal doors etc are down for delivery tomorrow. The renderer will be onsite Friday and waterproofing is booked for early next week. Here comes the bigge.....the kitchen will be installed next Friday WOW!! From there, the tiles will be laid and then the painters will arrive onsite to complete both internal and external including painting the cladding above the garage. A very exciting few weeks ahead!
Entrance....and the clear glass which will soon be frosted.
Hello stairs!
The staircase will be carpeted
Think we might need a child safety gate up here to start with
Looking down
This will be closed off with a door and will become our 'cupboard under the stairs'
Wow - how exciting!! A very busy few weeks ahead indeed! Sounds like our stairs are booked for next week and kitchen the one after so Im curious to know if our waterproofing is booked in yet!!
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see the progress :)
