Carpet, PCI & Finally a Driveway

There was a big stuff up last Monday when the concrete guys returned to pour the driveway...on a beautiful sunny morning. Our pool builder had dumped a load of rendering material for the pool on the formed up driveway! Needless to say, a few exchanges of words were had between builders and a number of phone calls between Simon, our SS and the pool builder that morning. Much to our disappointment, the concrete guys had to leave, with hopes of coming back the following day. Of course, Tuesday it rained. Tuesday was also the day the carpet was laid, NOT a good day for laying carpet as mud was tracked through the ground floor. The house had also been partially cleaned and what had been done had come up sparkling. This was all ruined when the floorboards were sanded before the carpet was laid and then mud being tracked around the place. Let alone more deposits in our brand new toilets. Our SS assures us there will be a final clean down before settlement day.

Despite not having a driveway, PCI went ahead as planned last Wednesday. Armed with green tape, our SS, Simon and I went about marking anything that required attention. All in all, a successful PCI but we left with apprehension in not really knowing when settlement would be. We had two big issues hanging over our heads....the pouring of the driveway, which we needed two dry days for and the laying of the fireplace feature tiles. At this stage, our SS had not heard if the tiles had arrived into the country.

Thankfully, two dry days followed on and the driveway was poured last Friday YIPPEEE!!! We also received a phonecall to let us know the tiles were in Australia and the tiler will be onsite to lay them this Wednesday.

We still don't have an exact date for settlement but our SS said, with those two major issues aside, it will only take a week to have the house ready. We expect it to be early next week :) At least we hope so as we have to move out of the unit on Thursday 21st.....homeless for Easter? Hope not!!!

In our enthusiasm over marking walls with the green tape (lol), I forgot to get the camera out and take pics at our walkthrough. However I do have some of the driveway...we're both really pleased with it. It's plain (no stencil) and the colour gives a good contrast to the white, it also brings out the darker colour of the front door and the posts on the balcony.

Apologies for the quality of the pics, they were taken on my iphone..

  3. Oh - I can't remember if I have asked before, but what is the colour you have had the cladding painted in?

It looks like it might be just what I am after for when we have our front portico projection rendered ;)

    Thanks!
